Pay pal question

  I added a paypal button to my site per WordPress.com instructions I found on your site. The button is showing up, but when I click on it I get an error message “website not found”. Please let me know how to fix this, thanks.

  Hi there, Ronda!

  The button is linking to the URL you assigned it, when you installed the PayPal button.

  Could you confirm that the link is correct?

  Here’s what I’m seeing as the link URL:
  http://https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_donations&business=lavenderbroom%40gmail%2ecom&lc=US&item_name=Lavender%20broom&currency_code=USD&bn=PP%2dDonationsBF%3abtn_donateCC_LG%2egif%3aNonHosted

  You may need to go through the process of making a button again, as the link you pasted here isn’t going to a valid PayPal page. Remember, per the instructions, you must use the link provided in the Email tab, not the code for websites.

  I cannot tell by looking at the PayPal link what may be missing, or what is “off” about it. If attempting to create a new button, and adding it again to your WordPress.com doesn’t work, you may need to confirm with PayPal that the link that is being generated is a valid one.

  Please do let me know once you’ve generated another URL. I can assist in the creation of the link here at WordPress.com once you’ve done that.

  Hi! Thank you so much for getting back to me. I looked over your email and then started the process from scratch and figured out what I did wrong. I think when I copied the generated code in the right place but it ended up with 2 “http://” since that is automatically inserted when you are adding a link (I hope this makes sense, my apologies – I am not very “tech savy”. The button seems to be working properly, thanks for the help!
