Paying for a domain I already own

  Hello, I’ve already paid another provider to own a domain for a year. Why do I have to pay wordpress also? Can I just start paying when the year I’ve already paid for expires?

  The site I need help with is [visible only to staff] (email visible only to moderators and staff).
