paying for account renewal

    I have a question.
    1. I purchased the business hosting package for $300 in 8/2019 when I had someone working on my website. Since that time that person is no longer associated with me. I let the service lapse in 8/2020. Now I’m ready to upgrade to that business package and get my website up and running again. When I pay the $300 for the upgrade will my website automatically reappear when I google up the website or is there something else I have to do?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hi there,

When I pay the $300 for the upgrade will my website automatically reappear when I google up the website or is there something else I have to do?

This won’t happen instantly, no. Because your site has been inactive for a while, search engines will have removed it from their indexes by now, so it will have to be reindexed before it will appear in search results again. This process typically takes around eight to twelve weeks. You might also need to publish some new content to the site to help this process along – we ping search engines each time you publish a new post, so the more you publish, the faster the site gets indexed.

Aside from that, after buying the plan again you’ll also need to reconnect your domain – I see you used to have the domain, kitchenremodelingstl.com, mapped to your site. You’ll need to make sure in settings that your site is public, i.e. visible to search engines. If you’d been using an SEO plugin you’ll need to make sure that’s still configured correctly.

But once you have the plan again you’ll have access to live chat support, where we can quickly help you check that and make sure everything is set up correctly.

Let us know if you run into any trouble re-purchasing the plan.

Now I have paid the $300 hosting fee. How do I get my website back to what It looked like previous to the lapse in service. I see that my website url has chnged as well. It was http://www.kitchenremodelingstl.com.
    Now it is http://www.kitchenremodelingstlwpconstaging.com
This change apparently happened when I let the WordPress hosting lapse.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks

  • Hi Jerry,

To add your custom domain, you will need to map it. Here are detailed instructions:

    https://wordpress.com/support/domains/map-existing-domain/.

I can see it already uses WordPress.com’s nameservers, so you do not need to update those.

As for restoring your site, try the latest backup, as explained here:

    https://wordpress.com/support/restore/#restoring-from-a-backup.
