How do I password-protect my blog?
-
Hi, originally I set up my free site to be private – which means everyone I invite must create a WordPress user account, I must add that account, etc, etc. This is tedious and also a difficult thing for me to ask people to do.
Question, I would like to keep the site private to only people I invite (say 30 or fewer people) but would like to simply allow them to access the site with a password (without having to code every post as private with a password from my publish page). This password will be universal and need not change per user.
Is there a way to do this? Is their a WordPress paid upgrade that makes something like this possible?
I have searched and searched and been unable to find just this answer?
Many thanks!
Brian

You can make each individual post and page password protected: http://en.support.wordpress.com/posts/post-visibility/#password-protect-a-post
Otherwise, the only way to make the entire site private is to restrict it on a per-user basis.
