  I’ve created my domain but on the fence to commit as far as payment is concerned. What happens if I don’t follow through with payment. I’m not quite sure yet, how I’ll use my own domain.

  Hello. To own and use a domain, you need to purchase it and pay an annual fee. If you don’t follow through with the payment, you won’t have a domain.

  Is worth noticing that, to use a custom domain in your WordPress.com site, you’ll need a paid plan. Every annual paid plan gives you the domain registration free for one year.
