payment for domain

  • Unknown's avatar

I am trying to pay for my domain name (which expires in 4 days!). I had this problem last year. All I want to do is pay for it so we don’t lose our website.
gcdapainters.org is the domain name. I go to manage purchases but it never shows anything about billing or payments. Please help!!

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hi there,

I would be happy to assist you in renewing your subscription. However, the upgrade that was purchased is not associated with the account you contacted us from. Until recently, you were able to renew an upgrade that was under your account, but now only the owner of the upgrade can. To confirm ownership, post in this thread under the username/account that purchased the upgrade. Then, I can look into renewing the subscription upgrade. However, you should be able to renew the domain if logged into the account that owns the upgrade.

Let me know if you have any questions.

    Thanks!

I am posting as requested under Pat Hull’s login information. I do not get her email, please respond to (email visible only to moderators and staff).

I have many questions, but how do I get ahold of you? This is not the easiest way to solve a problem. How do we transfer the ownership from Pat to me? Pat does 95% of the posting; all I do is pay the bill! This is such a pain in the rear end!

I would appreciate any help you can give me.
    Melanie Wilmhoff

  • Hi Melanie,

gcdablogger is also not the account that the upgrades are under. I can do the transfer on my end once I get confirmation from the account owner in this thread.

You can contact us via live chat for faster response if you’re logged into an account with an upgrade. You can start a chat here:

I’m Pat Hull, user name gcdablogger. I set this web site up some time ago and ever since then it has been a royal pain making the annual renewal payments. I just want to say upfront that I have NEVER encountered such a difficult, user-unfriendly, complicated “customer service” for any online entity, and I deal with a lot. I don’t blame the staff. But I hate this site.

That said, I have been, for the past hour +, trying without success to make a payment on my end. I changed the password and got an email that it the change was successful. I signed out of gcdablogger and signed in under the user name of gcdapainters. No luck. I tried to change the user name from gcdabloger to gcdapainters and it says I need an access token or something like that. No matter what I do, I cannot make a payment. Please advise in the clearest terms possible, what we can do to fix this problem once and for all. We need out site back up and running, so please respond ASAP.
    Pat Hull

  • Hi there Pat,

I understand your frustration and will do whatever I can to assist you in renewing your upgrades.

I signed out of gcdablogger and signed in under the user name of gcdapainters. No luck.

The upgrades are under gcdapainters. If you log into that account, then you should be able to pay for the upgrades here: https://wordpress.com/me/purchases

If you still have trouble, post in this thread under the gcdapainters account and I will be able to assist you.

Also, I emailed you in regards to another issue regarding your blog. Let me know if you do not receive it.

    Thanks again,

Thank you Darnell. We appreciate having the web site back up and running. However, we still have the issue of how to pay for this account. I logged out of gcdablogger and tried to go in as gcdapainter, but am unable to access this account. None of the passwords are working, as apparently, changing them while in the gcdablogger blogger accoutn has no impact on the gcdapainters account. Then I tried to change my user name to gcdapainters, but the save-change button is faded out and won’t allow this action. So no matter what I do, nothing works. I have never encountered such difficulty just trying to pay a bill. I was told we can’t mail a check or I would do that. You don’t offer phone support, so I have to rely on these chats. But I’m not getting specific steps to get me into the account. We can’t do this dance year after year. Both Melanie Wilmhoff and I have wasted so many hours trying to resolve what should be a simple matter.

  • Hi there,

None of the passwords are working, as apparently, changing them while in the gcdablogger blogger accoutn has no impact on the gcdapainters account.

Correct, you cannot change the username of one account while logged into a different one. I provided instructions below on how to reset the account.

Then I tried to change my user name to gcdapainters, but the save-change button is faded out and won’t allow this action.

What do you mean by change your username to gcdapainters? You can’t simply change your current username from gcdablogger to gcdapainters because the gcdapainters already exists.

But I’m not getting specific steps to get me into the account

    Hopefully this helps!

Yes, trying to change my user name was a last ditch effort of desperation. What I’ve been trying to do is retrieve or change a password for gcdapainters, but I’m not getting a link to do that. That’s where I’m stuck right now.

  • What I’ve been trying to do is retrieve or change a password for gcdapainters, but I’m not getting a link to do that.

I just sent a password reset link to the email associated to the gcdapainters account. Please let me know if you receive it.

    Thanks,

If you sent it to (email visible only to moderators and staff), I did not receive it. If you sent it to Melanie, I’ll find out later this morning. It’s now 1:54 am EST.

  • Hi there,

It was neither email. It is the email you set up when you created the gcdapainters account.

    Thanks,

Now I’m at a loss. Could it have been Susan Parrett? (email visible only to moderators and staff)? I doubt it, but she was the one who set up our credit card. Is there no record of the email used to set up gcdapainters? I don’t know where to go from here.

  • Could it have been Susan Parrett? (email visible only to moderators and staff)?

No, it is not that email either. =(

Is there no record of the email used to set up gcdapainters?

I do know the email address attached, but I cannot divulge what it is due to security reasons.

I don’t know where to go from here.

Did you ever receive a receipt from the upgrades purchase? If so, there is a transaction ID you can use as proof of ownership.

If not, do you know what credit card was used to pay for the upgrade?

All our payments are processed by PayPal (even if you paid directly with a credit card).

PayPal can provide you with this transaction ID, which we can then verify on our end. It’s a 17-digit number. You can reach them at:

    1-888-221-1161
1-402-935-2050 (if calling from outside the U.S.)

You can find additional ways to contact PayPal here:

    https://www.paypal.com/us/contactus

When contacting PayPal, please have the following details of the transaction ready:

    – Name on card
    – Amount and date of transaction
    – Card number

    Let me know. Thanks!

It just occurred to me to pull up the user section of our account, and the email associated with gcdapainters is (email visible only to moderators and staff). The thing is, I don’t know who has access to that email account. Leaving the house now, but I’ll stay on this until we are able to make the payment. Thank you for keeping our web site open while we struggle with this.

I sent an email to (email visible only to moderators and staff) to see who would respond. Below is what I got back. NOW WHAT!

Delivery to the following recipient failed permanently:
(email visible only to moderators and staff)

    Technical details of permanent failure:
Google tried to deliver your message, but it was rejected by the server for the recipient domain yahoo.com by mta5.am0.yahoodns.net. [63.250.192.45].

The error that the other server returned was:

Aye. That most likely indicates that the email account has been closed. Do you have access to either the transaction ID or credit card? I can change the email on the account from (email visible only to moderators and staff) to an email of your choosing with that information.

    Let me know, thanks.

I’ve been copying Melanie Wilmhoff, the GCDA Treasurer, on all the correspondence between us, and she responded with the message below. If her email address is redacted, can you still see it on your end?
    Pat

If you want to give him my email address for this at least I should be able to pay for it if we still have this mess next year.
(email visible only to moderators and staff)
    Thanks,
    Melanie

  • Thanks! Yes, It’s redacted from the public, but I can still see the email. Should I go ahead and contact Melanie directly? Is it her credit card that purchased the upgrades in previous years?
