Payment Issue

    I am having a problem in paying for my upgrade, and need to contact support. But apparently if I don’t have a paid upgrade yet, I don’t have access to live support and my only support avenue is a public forum??

    OK, here goes:

    I purchased and completed the Learn from Fiverr course “Build a Professional Website with WordPress.com.” Several times, it was mentioned that Fiverr students get a 25% discount on a paid plan upgrade at WordPress. I got the code from (wordpress.com/fiverr) as directed, but at checkout, WordPress keeps saying the coupon can’t be found. (I am entering it correctly.) This discount was one of my main reasons for purchasing the Fiverr course.

    I contacted Fiverr support on 20 May about the issue, and have checked on it several times since then. Their support has been abysmal. They have been sitting on this ticket for more than a month with no resolution; they claim they are waiting to hear from WordPress about it, and suggested I reach out to WordPress myself for help. Can you help?

    I tried checking the coupon code page again today, and there was a different code listed; but at WordPress checkout, that one comes up as “can’t be found” too. I can provide the Fiverr ticket number and a screenshot in private communication.

    Also, please note: I somehow managed to get three different sites listed under “My Sites” on WordPress, but I only want to upgrade one, and I can’t figure out how to delete the others. So, help with that issue as well would be appreciated! Thank you.

    Hm, the coupon displayed there is active and works. We refresh weekly, so maybe try one more time? You might have caught the coupon in the middle of the transition.

    The code does seem to work now. But I still need to know two things:

    1. How do I get rid of the other sites I don’t want in “My Sites”?

    2. If I upgrade the site I want to Premium, will “wordpress” be removed from the site URL? It still shows in the site URL during checkout, and I want to make sure I’m getting the domain name I want (without “wordpress” included).

    You can leave it there. It won’t cause any problems. If you want to remove it follow these steps:

    Delete a Website

    2. If I upgrade the site I want to Premium, will “wordpress” be removed from the site URL? It still shows in the site URL during checkout, and I want to make sure I’m getting the domain name I want (without “wordpress” included).

    That’s right. When you upgrade to the premium option you can add a custom domain. Custom domains do not have the WordPress part in them. You will still see the free site mentioned with in your dashboard, that’s what ties the domain to your account. But your visitors will only ever see the domain you’ve paid for, not the free address, as you desire.
