Payment options please?

    Hello all,
    I’m thinking of buying a domain name at wordpress.org so I can upload a custom theme and start using it for my photo blogging. I’m in Egypt and I would like to know what are my payment options. I dont have credit card. Can you accept a Western Union cash transfer?

    I’m thinking of making a documentation for our revolution, so I need a simple and elegant theme to help emphasize the concept in the photos. this theme is very good for me:http://labs.paulicio.us/viewport/#3

    I don’t know about the payment options but you can’t upload a custom Theme here, you are limited to the over 100 themes you see from your Dashboard. There is a wide selection so you should be able to find a theme you like – there are many many photo blog sites here using the existing themes. Many of the Themes have the ability to have the look changed and colors changed built in to the base Theme.

    You can also get the CSS upgrade and change the look more but there is no official support for CSS and not much help in the Forum so you are somewhat on your own with CSS.

    @jeanramsis    : Did you say you want to “buy a domain name at wordpress.org“? WordPress.ORG is just the name of the software. Did you mean WordPress.COM?

    Good catch on the .ORG, I missed that.

    WordPress.ORG provides the software for self hosted sites. If you self host then you need to find a host and install the WordPress.ORG software on it – you are then responsible for all the upgrades and such – figure $ 10 to $ 25 US dollars per month for the cost.

    Most cost effective is to just have a free site here or if you want the custom domain to purchase a domain through WordPress.COM and map it to your site $ 17- US dollars per year.

    Its my Day 1 in blogging so I’m learning a lot in a short time.. :D
    About the .Org and .Com.. When I registered my first blog “TheLightPainter.wordpress.com” it told me that the domain: TheLightPainter.ORG is available for 17$ per year. While I needed to create the blog instantly to try a certain theme, I decided to check this service later..

    So, when I started choosing themes, I got surprised! I cannot use my dream theme “View port” (a wordpress theme) in my blog. SO, I though I may buy the .ORG domain so I can use that theme (I guess I’ve read in the support that .Org supports uploading themes)

    Now, My question re-formatted: If I purchased the web host service that the registration page told me (TheLightPainter.Org) I can buy, Can I then upload and use my dream theme?

    The $ 17. upgrade will not allow you to upload a custom theme. We share over 100 Theme’s, you can’t upload a custom theme for security reasons. Many Themes in the wild so to speak are junk and loaded with malware, a bad theme here could take down many blogs.
