Payment versus Pay with PayPal
-
Hello. I am comparing the WordPress.com plans.
Please explain the meaning, and difference, between the options ‘Payment’ and ‘Pay with PayPal’ (located in the Marketing and Monetization section). Thank you. -
Hi there,
Pay with Paypal is a way to add a single product on your site, with a PayPal button to pay for that product. To receive payments, all you need is a PayPal account, and you add that account’s email address to the payment block to ensure payments reach your PayPal account. Visitors to your site will be able to use either their own PayPal account, or a debit/credit card to make payment.

The Payments feature is a way to sell a subscription to your site, in other words, a recurring payment. You can then use the Premium Content block to publish content on your site that’s only visible to visitors that have bought a subscription.
To use this feature you will need a Stripe account, and be located in a country where Stripe offers their services. Visitors to your site can pay with any valid debit or credit card supported by Stripe.
