paypal address in WP sidebar widget hacked
-
In my sidebar I created a widget that had a link to my paypal.me account for a donation or “pay as you wish” video demo page.
in the past I received various donations there just fine.I was just creating a linktree and was going through my sidebar blog links and discovered this widget was hacked and was sending people to other various paypal accounts.
the method seemed to be that they inserted “paypal.me2” after my original paypal.me/and my paypal username.
very odd.
I have fixed it and took some screen captures but wondered if anyone else had experienced this. obviously, i want to prevent this from happening again!thanks for reading…

It seems to be working just find for me.
This is how PayPal’s redirection works, https://paypal.me/ShiboriGirlStudios goes to https://www.paypal.com/paypalme/ShiboriGirlStudios

yes, it’s working now. as i said in my post- I fixed it. I have screen captures of it and when the link was clicked in the sidebar, it went to a different paypal acct.
anyway, it’s fixed now and i will keep a close eye on it.
