PayPal and Twitter not working

  • Unknown's avatar

Good evening, I just added a thrid blog to my account and wanted to add extra space but each time that I have tried to purchase the additional space via PayPal I continue getting the following error:

token: PayPal seems to be having some problems at the moment/ Please try again.

I tried several times this afternoon and just tried again this evening and continue getting the above error.

Also, on this new blog I wanted updates to Yahoo and Twitter. I authorized Yahoo without any problems but every time that I click authorize for Twitter I get the following error:

    Woah there!
This page is no longer valid. It looks like someone already used the token information you provided. Please return to the site that sent you to this page and try again….It was probably an honest mistake.

I have editting the first entry and retried…same error, I created a new test entry and tried again…same error. I waited and tried again and still I continue getting this error.
Is there a known issue happening that is both affecting purchases by PayPal and Twitter authorization since both errors refer to invaild tokens?

Thank you in advance for your help.

Which specific blog are we talking about, and do you have enough money in your Paypal account?

  • Unknown's avatar

The n4trq.wordpress.com blog is the new one that I set up today. And yes, there is money in my PayPal account but it never gets to the PayPal page, the error is displayed at the top of the WordPress page.

Not sure what you mean about “I wanted updates to…Twitter…every time that I click authorize for Twitter I get the following error, etc.”

How are you trying to send your updates to Twitter? The most reliable 2 methods are to use a WP plug in like Bird Feeder (sends to Twitter with no other action than publishing), or to ReTweet it using TweetMeme, or sending to Twitter via Share This (I use all 3 for different purposes. What method did you use?

Ooops, sorry, just realised that these plugins don’t work in a dot com WP site. Sorry.

Try the Cookie Dance: log out, clear browser cache and cookies, restart computer. That sometimes does it. But it could well be that Paypal is just having issues today. Try again afterwards and see what happens.

As for Twitter, check your account after you make a new post. Sounds like the info’s already in there; it won’t update your Twitter stream until you write and publish a new Post.

Okay, I will give PayPal a try again tomorrow. As for Twitter I have been checking it and there is nothing there. Have already tried making new posts but there is a link that says “Authorize Twitter” on my existing and new posts, I click the link to Authorize Twitter and I get redirected to the Twitter page an that error is displayed on the Twitter page.

Also forgot to add, I am now doing this on a seconf computer now and still getting the above errors….

Can’t help with the PayPal problem, but are you following the instructions to add publicize on Twitter found here?
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/publicize/

  • Unknown's avatar

Oh-your WordPress.com blog is protected. I don’t think you can do the publicize on Twitter if your blog is protected; Would appreciate Staff confirmation of that

  • Unknown's avatar

I have three blogs, two of them are protected but the third one which I just created yesterday is not and this is the one I am wanting to use Twitter to show updates. Yes, I have followed the instructions, Yahoo authorized with no problem but when I click the Authorize Link for Twitter I get the above listed error each and every time. I have tried to authorize from an editted post and from new posts and each time I get the error.

Just wanted to post an update: Tried again to make a PayPal payment and it is still failing with the same error as listed above. Also created another new test post, clicked on Authorize Twitter link and again still getting the same error.

Try support staff directly with the PayPal problem, since we forum volunteers can’t do anything about that.

About the Twitter thing, you can only publicize your new post to Twitter after you’ve successfully authorized WordPress.com to access your Twitter account.

Try going to your “Manage Blogs” page and then UNCHECK the Publicize Twitter box. Log out of WordPress.com, dump your cookies and cache and close your browser entirely. Then reopen your browser, log back in to WP.com and check the box to Publicize Twitter, click on the “Authorize Twitter” button that appears and see if you don’t get to the authorize page on Twitter.

Sorry that should have read, “Then reopen your browser, log back in to WP.com, go back to the Manage Blogs Page and check the box to Publicize Twitter, click on the “Authorize Twitter” button that appears and see if you don’t get to the authorize page on Twitter.”

Okay, I was able to get Twitter to authorize…finally, and went back and editted an existing post and it posted to Twitter. Just of note when I went to log into my Twitter account to verify if the post update was sent to Twitterk, I got the “Woah There” error message again but did a page refresh and then got to my account. So I seem to be good for now. Yes, I saw that other’s were having the same issues but did not see any resolution.
As far as the PayPal issue, seeing how the error that I am getting is here on the WordPress site and not the PayPal site, if I went to them to report this issue they would just send me back here saying it was a WordPress problem, I just went and paid directly by CC. But it is still something that may need to be investigated if someone else gets the same error..
Thank you for your assistance and your time.

I remember a period when WP.com disabled paid domain upgrades over the weekend, because too many people registered the wrong domain, wanted to change it, and then couldn’t because staff were unavailable. I suggest you try again Monday, in case that’s the problem.
