The only PayPal code that will operate on wordpress.com hosted blogs is described in this support doc https://en.support.wordpress.com/paypal/view-all/
If you get stuck you need to state clearly exactly which step you are stuck on and then type modlook into the sidebar tags on this thread for Staff help. How do I get a Moderator/Staff reply for my question? https://en.support.wordpress.com/getting-help-in-the-forums/#how-do-i-get-a-moderatorstaff-reply-for-my-question Then please subscribe to this thread so you are notified when they respond. To subscribe look in the sidebar of this thread, find the subscribe to topics link and click it.

Did you or did you not use the instructions found at https://en.support.wordpress.com/paypal/view-all/

Yes I did…..but when it gets to the point where it says to use the “email” link, there is no email Link! Just the website one….and I rang up paypal and they said they don’t offer an email link?!

Hi ptali! It sounds like you may have added some customizations that are not supported by the code you can use here.
Can you please go through the steps here one by one and make sure that you’re not using any of the features that don’t work here:
https://en.support.wordpress.com/paypal/get-paypal-button-code/
Specifically under Step 4:
DO NOT check the box next to any of the customization options, like drop-down menus or text fields. If you select any of those checkboxes, you’ll generate a button that you won’t be able to use on WordPress.com.
Let me know if you still have trouble after doing that.

@shawnajroberts – Nice to see you. :)
PayPal has changed their user interface and when I tried to get the code according to the WPcom Support doc, I nearly busted a gut in frustration trying to find it. The PP site diverges at Step 3 in the Support doc.

I did find this support doc on PayPal about creating buttons for email:
https://www.paypal.com/selfhelp/article/FAQ2881/7(Just noting that it seems one has to upgrade to a PP Premier account in order to create such buttons.)

Hmm. Looks like they may be changing things around a bit. That link is giving me “Article Unavailable”
Are you able to access the instructions, @justjennifer ?

@supernovia – yes. When logged out of PayPal the article displays instructions for both Premium and Business accounts. (temporary screenshot)
@tt – :) I’ve now thrown those instructions in my WPcom notebook JIC.
