PayPal Button

Trying to add a ‘Buy Now’ option from PayPal on my website. Why can’t I do this? Is there a converter for wordrpress.com that will allow me to change HTML to CSS?

You can create a PayPal button and add it to your WordPress.com site, there are a couple of good help threads at :-
https://en.support.wordpress.com/paypal/
https://en.support.wordpress.com/paypal/get-paypal-button-code/
The main thing to note is that while you are including this in your web page you do not create the HTML version of the button. When you create the button it needs to be the Email version. Then copy the link that gives you and include it into your site.
You can only create simple buttons this way, there are some advanced options on the Paypal creating page that you shouldn’t use.
Hope this helps.

Thank you. Sadly, PayPal has removed their “email” button so I can’t get that link. I’m totally frustrated.

This has ZERO to do with CSS editing.
eCommerce is not possible on a wordpress.COM hosted blog unless you have a Business upgrade for $299. per year in US funds. See here for all the details http://store.wordpress.com/plans/business/
https://en.support.wordpress.com/ecommerce/Otherwise, provided you are selling only what you yourself make or a service that you personally provide you have only two options.
(1) PayPal – Know that the only instructions that will work for posting a PayPal donation button on a WordPress.com blog are found here http://en.support.wordpress.com/paypal/
Customization options are not supported so please also read this thread starting at https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/paypal-button-41?replies=12#post-2517229
(2) If you set up an eCommerce site somewhere else online you can create a custom menu http://en.support.wordpress.com/menus/ and include a custom link to that site in it. http://en.support.wordpress.com/menus/#adding-custom-links
Some bloggers create a contact form https://en.support.wordpress.com/contact-form/ on a page and after the people have made a PayPal donation they provide the link to a private page for downloading files. Maybe that will work for you.

HUGE thanks for this! Yeah — it’s not actually a store I want to open, but rather the sale of a single product (autographed copies of my book) that can only be received through me. If I’m lucky, I might profit $50/year. Makes no sense to upgrade to a $299 account for that. I’ll check out the information above and cross my fingers that it works. :)

I saw that. So what do I do? UGH! This is driving me nuts. I’m at the point where I’m going to link to a different site entirely…which is fine, but not my original plan.

I created and used a Paypal email button only last month, I don’t know if they have been withdrawn since then.
The email button option is not available if you have any of the customization boxes clicked.
