paypal button does NOT work in wordpress

we run a not for profit fundraising effort for an organization called tails of hope, located in illinois. my intent was to raise money for this no-kill animal shelter. i tried to put a paypal donate button on my wordpress site but the button does not work- and after doing a lot of research it appears i would either need to upgrade the site to a paid wordpress service or pay to upload a plugin. my high school son is running this effort and we don’t have money for that. can you help us given this is a very good cause and a not for profit with 100% of the proceeds going to this animal shelter? https://tailsofhopeblog.wordpress.com/

The fact that the site is a non-profit site is irrelevant.

Know that the only instructions that will work for posting a PayPal donation button on a WordPress.com blog are found here http://en.support.wordpress.com/paypal/
