paypal button in sidebar is not working

I added a donation button as a text widget to the sidebar. The buttons showed up on the sidebar, but the paypal form does not open. Is there something else that I need to do? Like create a shortcode. If so where if I want the button to appear on the sidebar and not in a post? I also created a link for a donation button, but I took it off thinking that maybe it was interfering. I really need this paypal button to work today. Please help. I sent a message earlier today, but have not received a response.

These are instructions for posting the donate button in post. Or, am I missing something?

So, I got the image and email to link and post (and to work). However, the cute little buttons that were in sidebar are not there. I am using Explorer and I am getting boxes with x’s. Looks like it might be better when I open it in Mozilla. Do you know if there is there some setting that I should change? I like the cute little buttons ;-)

The button in the sidebar is working.
The button in http://annalisefonza.com/2013/05/20/heres-where-to-donate/ is “working”, but the image is broken. You entered http://www.paypal.com/en_US/i/btn/btn_donateCC_LG%3C/p as the image URL when it should be https://www.paypal.com/en_US/i/btn/btn_donateCC_LG.gif

How did you get the paypal button to work in the text widget? I can add the button image, but I’m not understanding how to add the paypal link to it? Please explain/ help.

Follow the guide at http://en.support.wordpress.com/paypal/ to create a button in the post, then switch to the Text editor tab (not the Visual editor tab) and copy/paste the HTML over to a Text widget.

Thanks macmanx: I was able to get the button working. I was having trouble with it on the 20th, but resolved it okay later that night.

morrisonleadership: I actually had to add a new post as instructed, then I copied the paypal link and the image link into a text widget. Worked just fine. Hope this helps.

I’m having a similar problem. I cannot get the paypal button to show in the sidebar. I am using the twenty eleven theme that I have seen the others use a button with. I am following the directions on the link provided above. I added the widget then pasted the email link but it is just showing the link text without hyperlinking or image.
