WordPress.com blogs cannot be equiped for ecommerce but we can post an unencrypted PayPal donation button. Is that what you mean? Are you following these instructions? http://en.support.wordpress.com/paypal/
-
Probably is..I’ll try the donation button. Yes, I did follow the WP instructions. Thanks.
-
WordPress.com isn’t well-optimized for ecommerce. I suggest you just tell your members to use the donate button with the notation “Code SUPERDISCOUNT” or whatever keyword you want to use. That way you and they can keep track of the pricing.
-
Tried paypal donate button using my own icon option but still didn’t work. Gave Up!
Will go the long route…with two hidden links, shall we say. At least it will go to my PayPal Shopping cart. Thanks… What can I expect for free, huh? -
dkleathers.wordpress.com is no longer available.
The authors have deleted this blog.I’m surprised you weren’t succesful when it came to posting the PayPal button. Perhaps we can spot what you did wrong and help you post it. Which blog are you referring to? Will you please post an active link starting with http:// to the blog in question?
-
Sorry, I just did not write out the full website address. I have http://dkleathers.webs.com
However, I do believe I received a response that told me we could not use ecommerce type buttons, only the donate button on WordPress. Perhaps I’m not understanding everything.

@dkleathers
There are two very different “flavors” of WordPress. That site yoiu just linked to is not a free hsoted WordPress.com blog and my comments above are only for WordPress.com blogs like the one you deleted. We cannot help you here at WordPress.com with that site as it’s not being hosted by WordPress.com and we run on different software. This is the correct forum for your software http://wordpress.ORG/support/

Best wishes with your site. -
Another one of my errors…wrong website address. I should have given you my WordPress site which is http://dkleathersdigest.wordpress.com…at least I think that’s what it is.
-
Okay. On a WordPress.org install one can equip theirsite for ecommerce. On a WordPress.com free hosted blog one cannot equip the blog for ecommerce. On free hosted WordPress.com blog can can only install the urnrencrypted PayPal donation button. http://en.support.wordpress.com/paypal/
-
Yikes! What a spelling mess that was. I’m so sorry.
On free hosted WordPress.com blog you can only install the unrencrypted PayPal donation button. http://en.support.wordpress.com/paypal/
-
You’re right, Yikes!…Figured so, I will stick with the double link method. Not Great solution but will have to do. Thanks for your assistance.

with two hidden links, shall we say. At least it will go to my PayPal Shopping cart.
If you are just sending traffic to your shopping cart that would also be a Terms of Service Violation and could get your blog suspended.
-
Okay, here’s what I have done, or want to do!…http://dkleathersdigest.wordpress.com is a news letter I want to send on a monthly basis. In it I have one page that offers members a special discount on several items. At the moment I have only two items listed. (Discount/Coupons at the moment on actual product site is ot available) It is private and link only provided to product website members. If you view it, I don’t think it violates terms of service but maybe it should be checked out.
-
Ask staff; they have the final say. The deal is that sites here which are clearly ONLY to drive traffic to other sites (eg ecommerce sites) are banned. But if you’re actually blogging on it, that’s a different story.
-
thank you raincoaster. I will ask staff…
Plan to send out perhaps 2 email blasts a month.
