PayPal not generating email code for 'buy now' button

We have followed your instructions for generating a PayPal button, but when we click ‘create button’ PayPal is only generating website code – there is no email code as shown in your screencap here http://en.support.wordpress.com/paypal/
We have also asked PayPal about the problem, but perhaps you have an answer from this end?

The email code is only available for the Donate button. We don’t really offer a way to use the Buy button.
If you require e-commerce/shopping cart functionality, you might be interested in a self-hosted (WordPress.org) installation. There are no restrictions on e-commerce if you set up a self-hosted WordPress.org blog instead of a WordPress.com blog, but there are some added responsibilities.

Thanks very much. I think we’ll go down the route of emailing invoices with PayPal – the other options sound like a lot of aggravation!

If you have a limited number of offerings at a limited number of different prices, I just have the Donate button and ask people to fill in amount and the workshop they’re registering for under Comments when they use the button.
