Paypal Payment Plugin doesn't work
-
Dear WordPress,
I tried renewing my domain http://www.identityisdynamic.com, but when I want to pay via paypal I can’t get into to work. The site keeps asking for me to either add a creditcard or bank account to pay with, while I want to pay with the money already on my paypal account. I already contacted paypal and they said it’s probably the plugin on wordpress. I do want to re-new the account, is there any other way to make the payment? I don’t have a creditcard, but have a paypal account or I could do a regular bank transfer.
Kind regards,
Edward Spruit

Hi Edward,
When you go to Store -> My Upgrades, then click the Renew Now button, the next screen will show “Choose a Payment Method”, and you can select PayPal.

No shit, dude, I am not that retarded. The paypal plug-in keeps asking me to add a creditcard or bank account to link to my paypal, while I just want to make a normal payment. So I can’t complete my payment…

I didn’t say you are.
Did you log into your PayPal account when prompted?
Under “Choose a Payment Method”, when I choose PayPal and click Purchase (screenshot), I get the resulting screenshots:
1. PayPal — Choose a way to Pay — Have a PayPal Account?

(This is where you can log in.)
2. PayPal — Review your information — Payment methods

I can login with my paypal account but then it says I need to add a creditcard in order to complete the payment. The only other option is to cancel the payment and return to the wordpress website.
This what it says:
It requires me to add a creditcard, which I don’t have. And there is no other option provide for me to just pay with my regular paypal account.

It doesn’t look like you’re logged in to PayPal on that screen.
Please try logging in to PayPal in a new browser tab. With that tab open (and logged in), try opening WordPress.com in a new tab and renewing your upgrade through PayPal.

Yes, I AM logged into my paypal account. I did so on the previous screen.
I tried your approach (it makes no logical sense why that would work btw), and it didn’t work. I think the plug-in just isn’t doing what it’s supposed to do, perhaps someone should take a look at that.. -
Okay, I’ll check with our store team, and I’ll get back to you the moment I hear back from them.
I see that your domain is set to expire on 27 October 2012, and I’ll make sure to help get that renewed before that.

Hi,
Thanks for your patience, and I’m sorry for the delay. For your domain renewal, I’ll need to manually send a PayPal money request so you can use the funds from your PayPal account.
I’ve sent the money request to the email address linked to your WordPress.com account, so once you’ve made the payment, can you reply to this forum thread to let me know?
Thanks.

Thanks, I was able to log-in and pay with my account, so I think everything worked out. Thanks for providing the option!

Awesome. I’ve confirmed that we’ve received the payment, and I’ve renewed your domain from our end.
