Pblms with how to feature images with sketch theme?Need help

Hi,
Sorry to bother but i think i may have a bug with the sketch theme.
I tried several tags to have featured images but still isn’t working.
The first home page is my portfolio, activated with code (portfolio), i followed every steps so i really don’t understand :(

Each of your projects has a featured image applied to it. I’m not sure what you are asking about. Do you mean the featured content slider?

Activated with code? If you’re using portfolio shortcode in the static front page, then the page likely isn’t assigned to the Portfolio page template. The slider only appears on a static page assigned to the Portfolio page template. See the Featured Content section of the Sketch theme guide.

Thank you so much for your answer and help, but i think i may have a bug with this theme :
I now have a static front page assigned to the Portfolio page template, with no code added or anything, but the featured content slide still isn’t working… I really don’t get it and tried many many ways ! :( -

Excellent. That’s an important first step, but it’s not enough. In order to display a portfolio project, post, or page in the featured content slider, you must also add a featured content tag (naming it whatever you want) at Customize → Featured Content, and then add the same tag to each post, page, or project that you want to appear in the slider.
The full instructions in the Sketch theme guide:
To set up Sketch‘s Featured Content area:
- Navigate to Customize → Featured Content.
- Enter the name of a tag.
- Click the blue “Save” button at the bottom.
- Create a post, page, or portfolio item with a Featured Image.
- Give the post the tag you declared under Customize → Featured Content.
Also, the Sketch theme guide Quick Specs section specifies that featured images for the Featured Content Slider be at least 1092 pixels in width.

Many many thanks again for answering, i’ve also add a featured content tag and tags to each of my projects, but still isn’t working, even with the correct 1092 pixels…
Sorry to bother again and again, do you think the problem could come from the website itself?
Because i managed to have a slider at the very begining of the making of my theme and it just disappeared when i changed the front page settings, and now it cannot come back :/ -
If, as you say, the featured images are of sufficient dimensions and you’ve assigned the tags properly, then I don’t know what the problem might be. I’ll add a “modlook” tag to the sidebar of this topic to call for staff attention.

Hi @charlotteg14, your projects need to have the featured content tag. It can’t be a “project tag” by the way — just a regular tag, like the one you’ve added here:
https://charlotteandtheteapotportfolio.wordpress.com/portfolio/illustrated-accessories/Also, I’ve noticed your featured tag name matches a whole category on your site. Would you mind changing that? I am wondering if the names are in conflict a bit. Try using a tag like “featured” or “slider” instead of one of the names you’ve already used for something else.

I have changed tags to “featured”, used different words for categories, tags or projects.
To resume, my home page is assigned to the portfolio page templates (and set as “first level” parent page). I have no other pages except “contact” and “about”, so maybe the problem comes from this?
Also, my portfolio projects are presented as squares 1.1.

Okay, I was able to see all of these that had a project tag of “featured” . This needed to be a regular tag instead, though, not a project tag. I’ve added them for you in bulk here in the older interface:

Are you able to see the “tags” option when editing in the newer interface? It should not be “project tags” … just “tags” . Let me know.

You bet. Tell me this though: are you able to see the “tags” option when editing in the newer interface? It should not be “project tags” … just “tags” . Let me know, since that will be necessary in making these show up in your featured content are.

When i start a new article or portfolio project, or editing an old one, i only see “project tags” on the left, under “types projects”.

@charlotteg14 yup. You should see “tags” there too. I’ll see if I can find a fix for you, but in the meantime, you can add tags in the old interface if needed.

I’m sorry to bother again, i have just added a new portfolio project and added a “featured” tag, but the featured content doesn’t seem to work (again), my new project is not featured on my home page.
Could you explain it maybe?May thanks

Hi! We’ve found and fixed the original issue now. Try editing the project, then putting “featured” under “Étiquettes” . I hope that helps! And nice work on your site and on the projects you’re displaying .. beautifully done. :)
