PC app won’t connect – ??

    i try open WP {PC] app but keep getting <strong style=”–original-color: rgb(68, 68, 68); –original-background-color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 0);”>400. That’s an error.. No eyed deer what to do about it? I can get in via my browser but feel like I maybe missing out as things like using the editor are behaving oddly, advice muchly appreciated, please.

    I’d love to see a screen shot of what’s going on with the app. That will help us get clued in to any potential issues. Please share one in your next reply as part of the image block.

    Additionally, let me know what operating system + version you are using the app on. Also include the app version.

    Try the following if you haven’t already:

    • sign out and back in to the app
    • reinstall the app, check for updates
    • restart the device

    Apologies for my delay in replying, I ‘m disabled thus slow I am old too and not great with comps/net.

    Can you let us know when exactly you are seeing that error in the desktop app? For example, what are you clicking or going to in the WordPress desktop app when seeing the error? Are you seeing this when trying to view one of your sites in the app? What site are you editing via the app when you see the issue?

    Also, just to confirm here, is all working for you as expected when using a browser? In Chrome or Firefox, can you log into WordPress.com and let us know that all is working there?

    Thanx yet again, it happens as soon as i click on the app to open, app auto tries to connect via Google?

    Thanks for giving that a try. So far we are unable to reproduce the issue you are describing, nor are we able to locate any other similar instances of such an error.

    Just so we’re clear, are you saying that you tried logging into your WordPress.com account through Firefox, Chrome, and Edge web browsers and they also did not work?

    Yes exactly via the WP app only. Via a browser [all’s ok, EXCEPT in EDITOR where all’s looks fine BUT I can’t click on ANYTHING on there,] page loads but is, in effect dead….?

  • Thanks for sticking with us here. Thank you so much for sharing these details with us. I have two questions we’ll need your help with.

    First: when you are working through a browser, can you tell us if you are working from a desktop computer, tablet, or mobile device? And which browser are you using?

    For example, are you on a desktop using Windows 10, and the latest version of Google Chrome?

    Second: Have you tried a different web browser on that same device? If so, which other browsers have you tried where you got the same result?

    Our goal is to get something working for you sooner rather than later. Can’t thank you enough for your feedback. :)

    Thank you for helping, I am working from a desktop computer [Win10 using latest Opera,] I’ve tried many browsers + find Op best. App tried to open using Chrome 400 error code shows. [problem #1]

    I’ve reported this issue (with the Windows app) to our developers so they can take a look. It may be some time until they are able to resolve this since we’re having trouble replicating the issue. Instead I would recommend using the browser as a fallback, and we can update you when we have more info on this.

    Also, it is often the case when an issue like this occurs, that it can be traced to an expired (or broken) login auth cookie stored on your local web browser. With this in mind I would like you to try the following

    I did what you suggested [prob 1] app only tries to open in Chrome & can’t be changed?

    [prob 2] EDITOR – I solved it [geez I know lol] by adding a * before my site address – that was it, whatever, it works!
