PDF File Display On Blog Post Not Working
-
Previously, to display a pdf file directly on a blog or post page, you would use this method of pasting the url of the pdf file into the blog post on it’s own line within the editor. Once you view the page, the pdf file is supposed to display as an embedded file on the page as described here –> https://wordpress.com/support/embedding-a-pdf-file/
This has always worked for me before, but now is not working. All I get on the page now is “Click to access ddavidd_kaleidolove_001.pdf” which is a link to download the file, and does not display the pdf file like it’s supposed to on this page –> https://pdfloop.wordpress.com/2022/01/31/kaleidolove-book-001/
What is going on with this, and when (if) will this be fixed?
I have a feeling this is another lame deprecation of Gutenburg like how we lost the Twitter Timeline recently.
Thanks for your help.

Hello @dtpiixart,
PDF embeds are broken at the moment, staffs are aware of this issue, but I’m afraid I’m not able to tell you when this will be fixed.
In the meantime you can use Scribd embeds… they have an independent method for embedding PDFs that you can use on your WordPress.com site: https://wordpress.com/support/scribd/

Hi @tenchoenyi
Thanks for that information. Knowing it’s a known issue helps. At least I don’t feel the need to go through all my blogsright away to try fixing them. I really appreciate your help.
