PDF links embedded in images – not working
-
Hello, I’ve created a gallery with a few images and in the image description I have provided an URL link to a PDF file that I have in my media library. Here is the problem: a reader of my page can only read this PDF when they right-click and then say ‘open tab in a new window’. But it doesn’t work when they just click on it. All they see is a bigger version of the image. But for me the image should really only serve as a teaser for the PDF and the image itself is not at all important. The PDF is important. I’ve tried everything in the URL link image setting (‘open to new window’, ‘don’t open to new window’, ‘link leads to attachment’, ‘links to media file’, ‘link leads to nothing’) but all of this only produced the same result: the reader only sees the image. NOT the PDF. Who can help? THANKS!

Hi @lanickovakat,
You will need a pdf viewer plugin to achieve your requirement.
In order to upload plugins on WordPress.com, you’ll need to subscribe to the Business Plan.
Hope this helps.

Dear @kevinbazira,
Thanks so much for such a quick and helpful reply! I see. All right, I’ll give it a think.
Have a nice day, Kat. -
