pdf online

    Hello,
In 2016, classmates and I created a website ‘ychildrensbooks’ there was a pdf document that I posted that I want to remove from the internet. I deleted it from the site, but when one searches the link or searches the name on the internet, it still comes up. How can I remove it completely from the internet? If I deleted the entire site, would that secure that this pdf would no longer be accessible?
If you could let me know at (email visible only to moderators and staff)
    Thank you,
    Therese Yank

  • Deleted files may remain cached for just a bit, but are purged automatically eventually.

If you let us know the URL of the file, we can manually purge it now.

Thank you very much for your immediate response. It sheds very positive light on your business as wordpress.com.

Here is the url that I would like to purge for copyright reasons.

    Thanks again!

  • Hi Therese,

That file is no longer on our servers, and that link just gives a 404 Not Found error for me.

It’s possible that file can still be stored in your browser’s cache, which would allow you to still access it.

Also keep in mind that deleting the file from our servers does not remove any copies of it that might be cached with search engines like Google. People will still be able to access cached copies of this file via Google and other online searches, until the various search engines remove the file from their caches as well, which could take weeks, or even months.

If you’re still able to find this file via online searches, you’ll need to contact the different search engines directly to request that they remove the file on their end.

For Google specifically, you can see their process at https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/9689846
