PDF viewing on smartphone

  Hello,

  On our website we have posted PDFs that can be downloaded. However, as soon as we go to the site via our smartphone, the PDF in question does not appear on our screen.

  Is there a parameter to add to solve this problem?

  Hi there!

  This looks like it could be a bug. On a mobile device, you should see a download button rather than the complete, embedded file.
  It sounds, however, that you do not see anything at all that would link to the PDF, is that right?
  What device have you checked this on, and what browser/OS was it using?

  Hello, thank you for your answer.

  I had not added the download button on the page, I just did it and yes on mobile this button appears and we can download the PDF file.
  However, is it still possible to view the PDF file on a mobile phone? Because even if there is an option to download, we would have liked the visual in question to be visible when browsing the pages with PDF of our website. Is it possible ?

  I tried several mobile search engines (Ecosia, Google, Chrome). The “download” button works correctly.

  Hi there,

  Can you tell us what mobile browser (e.g. Firefox, Chrome, Safari, Opera) and operating system (e.g. Android, iOS) you’re using?

  Not all mobile browsers support displaying embedded PDF files, and if you’re on Android most browsers won’t show the embedded file, only a download link.

  If a particular browser doesn’t support displaying the file in this way, there’s nothing we can do. All the code to show the embedded file is present on your site, but it’s up to the browser on your (or your site visitor’s) device to read and correctly interpret that code, and some browsers simply aren’t able to do that in this case :)

  I tried on Chrome, Ecosia and Google :) on an Android smartphone.

  I understand better why it is not showing, thank you very much.

  We will therefore content ourselves with the “download” button.

  Thanks for confirming you’re on Android.

  Yes, in that case I’m afraid there’s nothing we can do – this will need to change on Android itself first :)
