Pending Blaze Ad for Lori’s Lane

  • Unknown's avatar

My pending Blaze ad for my post ‘The Near Future’ has the wrong amount of days. I’ve done it twice now. I canceled the first one thinking I made the mistake and created a new ad, but it still has the wrong amount of days for the ad. I put in FOUR days and the ad says five starting yesterday! I just put in the ad today (Feb.21). Can someone please help me out and make sure it is for FOUR days for a $5 add equaling a total of $20? Thank you, Lori

Now it says my ad was approved and it’s live, charging me from starting yesterday, when I just did the ad at 10:30 this morning. I want it for today, Feb. 21, for four days. I really appreciate it if anyone could help with this. Thanks.

  • Hi there,

Firstly, you are welcome to cancel your campaign at any time and you will only be billed for the adverts which have run. There is no refund for adverts that have already been displayed however.

We are asking our ads team to take a look and we will update you here as soon as we know more, but for now as a workaround you can start a campaign for one day fewer than the number of days you intend. I.e., if you want a campaign that runs for four days, enter ‘3’ days when creating the campaign. This will prevent you from being over-charged while we take a closer look.

    Thanks for your patience!

Okay, thanks. Let me know what you learn. I’ll decide what to do about the ad in the morning.

  • Hi there,

I chatted with the team and we are going to issue a refund for the day that your last Blaze was up, since you intended to get some resolution before the campaign started.

Our engineers are looking into the issue but don’t have an estimate on when it will be fixed. For now you can safely choose a 3 day campaign to prevent any overspending, and we will update you here when the issue is resolved.

Thank you. I had bought a 4 day campaign but it says 5 days, and it is counting Monday, but I didn’t start it until Tuesday. Perhaps I can just cancel the campaign when it hits the amount I was looking to pay? (FYI campaign name or post title: The Near Future).

  • Hi again,

I can confirm that this issue is fixed, but it appears that you may have started your most recent campaign just before it was addressed. You have a few options here:

    • Cancel the current campaign at 5 days, or anytime you wish. We only bill you for the actual time the campaign runs
    • Cancel the current campaign and start a new one for the correct number of days you wish. Any future campaigns you start should show the correct number of days and cost.

I also confirmed with our team that we don’t process billing for a campaign until it is run, so for the one you canceled no funds have been taken. So there is no refund to give, but also you should see no charge against your account.

Hope that helps. Please let us know if you have any more questions.

Hi there. Okay, so I’m just going to respond here to see if I understand correctly. The campaign that was not working properly (Titled: The Near Future) can be canceled, and I won’t be charged. If I start a new campaign, this time it should work properly. If I put in for a 4-day campaign, it will be 4 days and not 5 like glitch I had before.

Is that correct? Thank you for working with me.

Okay, so I canceled the ad in question that was not running the way I ordered it (“The Near Future” post). Then I tried to run a Blaze Campaign again on the same post, and there’s a new problem. The post is not showing up on the Blaze page. It’s not offering me that blog post to Blaze. It’s pulling up only long ago posts for me to use for a Blaze Campaign. Am I missing something? Why can’t I choose that same post to run the campaign on?

  • Hi again,

The campaign that was not working properly (Titled: The Near Future) can be canceled, and I won’t be charged.

If there are zero impressions you will not be charged at all. However if you have generated impressions through the campaign, you are charged for that day only, but not for the other days in your campaign

If I start a new campaign, this time it should work properly. If I put in for a 4-day campaign, it will be 4 days and not 5 like glitch I had before.

Correct, I tested it on my personal account and it works as expected. Hope that helps. Please let us know if you have any more questions.

  • Oops sorry you most recent message did not load for me until after I posted my last reply.

Then I tried to run a Blaze Campaign again on the same post, and there’s a new problem. The post is not showing up on the Blaze page. It’s not offering me that blog post to Blaze. I’m not sure why the list is not showing newer content, so I will ask the team about it. For now as a workaround you can also blaze any published post from the list here: https://loreezlane.wordpress.com/wp-admin/edit.php

If you hover over any post you will see the option below the title.

    Thanks!

I tried clicking there before (where you show on the screen shot), and it didn’t work. It’s an already published post, and it’s the one we’ve been discussing. I wanted to do another campaign, since I canceled it before it finished due to the problems. When I click in either place to do a campaign, it doesn’t show up. It takes me to the Blaze Campaign page and only shows long ago posts. 🤷‍♀️

  • Hello there,

Many thanks for that additional information.

The order of posts is something we’re improving.

Can you tell me if you’re able to create campaign from this link here: https://wordpress.com/posts/loreezlane.wordpress.com > click on the three dots > click Promote with Blaze please?

    Hello,

I clicked on the link you provided, and yes, it did take me to a page for the specific post I want to create a campaign for. Thank you for finding me another option.

Update on the campaign: I posted a new campaign through that link you gave me. This time it charged me the correct amount of money I chose. However, it back-dated the campaign the same way it did the last time. I just posted the campaign today on Feb. 23 at noon. The campaign is for two days and it gives the dates from Feb. 22 – Feb. 24. Is it supposed to count a day that’s already gone? Shouldn’t it say Feb. 23 – Feb. 25? Will I get the two full days? Or does WordPress count the calendar days differently?

Thank you for working with me.

  • Hi there,

it’s my understanding that internally these campaigns are tracked in hours, but we convert to days in the interface for clarity. I’m not sure why the date is displayed that way but I’ve asked our team to take a look and will let you know what we hear back.

Thank you for working with me.

Likewise, we really appreciate your patience here since this is such a new offering for us.

    Thanks for rocking WordPress.com! :)

  • Hi again,

I’ve chatted with our team and they’ve confirmed that on their end they see the campaign as running from the 23-25th, and the issue is a display error in what you are seeing on your end.

They plan to address that soon, but for now you can be confident the campaign will run for the days that you intended. Thanks!
