pending payments

hello. i have several ‘pending payments’ on orders received in the last week or so up to this morning. all the payments that are pending are PayPal payments. could there be some setting that is preventing customers from completing their order? my PayPal settings are on ‘capture’ and some orders are from repeat customers who have successfully checked out in the past using PayPal. Thank you.
