Penscratch Theme Question

I want to change my website ShiftingGearsTheJourney.com from Vantage to Penscratch as I love the blog features on Penscratch. But I need to be able to have a static page for home page with one big photo that never changes, the blog on its own blog page with posts, and also I need to be able to have photo galleries. Is this all possible with Penscratch? When I did a Live Preview, it seemed my galleries no longer functioned. Thank you in advance.

http://shiftinggearsthejourney.com/ is not hosted by wordpress.COm and we do not provide support for it. It is a powered by wordpress.ORG software install on paid hosting. Our support docs do not apply to it. You are posting to the wrong support forum for that site.
WordPress.COM and WordPress.ORG are completely separate and have different username accounts, logins, features, run different versions of some themes with the same names, and have separate support documentation and separate support forums. As you are referring to a wordpress.ORG software install on paid hosting, if you don’t have a username account at WordPress.ORG account, then click http://wordpress.org/support/ and register one on the top right-hand corner of the page that opens, https://wordpress.org/support/register.php so you can post to the support forums there.

Are you speaking of your self-hosted site, http://shiftinggearsthejourney.com/, or of your WordPress.com blog, https://shiftinggearsthejourney.wordpress.com/ ? I can see that the latter has Penscratch activated at the moment.
On WordPress.com static front pages and galleries are standard features and not dependant on theme, so those should still work no matter which theme you’re using. If any of your galleries aren’t working since the theme change, please provide a link to the specific post or page and I’d be happy to take a closer look.

https://en.support.wordpress.com/pages/front-page/If you’re speaking of your self-hosted site, you will need to ask in the WordPress.org forums, as @timethief said. On a WordPress.org site you will probably need to install plugins to get access to these features, as they don’t come standard with WordPress.org.
