People cannot follow.

    We just used WordPress for our new church website. Members are “following” to receive announcements (blog posts) by email. The first 60 or so members followed without an issue, but then a few started telling me that when clicking the link in their confirmation email, they received an error message of some sort.

    So I decided to test it out. I entered my emails (several different accounts) to follow the posts. But I NEVER RECEIVE the confirmation email. I’ve waited a few days and tried again, and still no email comes. I also can’t find a way to contact WordPress for support other than right here.

    Please check in your email client spam/ junk mail filter as well as your “social” tab in Gmail, if you use it. I’ll tag this thread for a Staff follow-up. Please subscribe to the thread so you are notified when they respond and please be patient while waiting.

    I’m not using gmail, and I’ve checked the junk folders. It’s not there. I will try to be patient, but I have church members contacting me for an answer….

    Can you please tell me the email address you were testing with? And the error message your readers are getting when they try to confirm their subscription?

    I don’t have the error message. My emails are (email visible only to moderators and staff) & (email visible only to moderators and staff).

    I have email addresses for the members who are unable to subscribe, but I’m not comfortable with posting them here.

    Sorry, I should have mentioned. Any email addresses that you post here in the forums will be redacted from public view. Only staff members will be able to see them.

    Both of the email addresses you gave me have blocked subscription emails from WordPress.com. So you won’t get the subscription confirmations or any subscription emails.

    To change this setting, you’ll need to log into the two different WordPress.com accounts and visit the Notifications tab in your account settings:

    At the bottom of that page, there’s a check box to block all emails. Uncheck that and save your settings. Then you should start getting confirmation and subscription emails again.

    Let me know if you’d like me to take a look at the email addresses of the other subscribers that are having trouble.
