People Can't Leave A Comment On My Blog

One of my blog readers just e-mailed me that she is unable to post a comment. That she is redirected to WordPress’s sign in screen. She doesn’t have a WordPress account. I verified that I DO NOT have a check in the box to require commenter to have a WordPress account to leave me a comment. How do I fix this?

If the email she is trying to use is either tied to a wordpress.com account, or a Gravatar account, wordpress will require here to sign in to prove that she is the owner of that email address. There was an issue with someone impersonating a big wig at a popular search engine and that triggered this change, but impersonation is becoming a bigger issue and that is part of the reason you are starting to see the requirement to log in or register become more prevalent.

Tell that person to use a different email address, or they can sign in using their Gravatar email address and password (if they don’t have a wordpress.com account).

Thanks. I forwarded your information to the person having the problem. I will wait to see what she says.
