People can't make comments
-
Two people in the last 24 hours have reported being unable to post comments on my site. WordPress rejects them seemingly because they have WordPress blogs of their own.

Thank you. However, I just had one of the two people try about noon today again and it would not let her post and it “erased her words,” she said.
Her name is Paulette Bates Alden and she has a web site and blog powered by WordPress software, not hosted by WordPress. I don’t know if this is the problem or not.
She is very frustrated, and so am I!

P.S.–Another clue: she said she uses AOL.
Could there be a conflict with AOL users?
However, I myself have run into more WordPress conflicts when I try to comment but have gotten around them by using Google as an ID or Open URL. So maybe it is a WordPress glitch.

This is actually an update we made to the commenting system. If a user is commenting with an email address attached to a WordPress.com or Gravatar account, they’ll need to be logged in first.
The user should see a warning stating this while attempting to comment.
As for Open ID, make sure that you enter just richardgilbert when choosing WordPress.com as your OpenID provider.

The update is not working. Another friend with a WordPress blog, http://cueconfessions.wordpress.com/, just tried to post twice on my blog in reply to a post and failed and gave up.
Either people don’t see the notice they have to be logged in, or they ignore it. I hope you will kill this update as it is counterproductive. If three or four people have complained to me, then I know it is a HUGE problem across the board.
