People ‘following’ my blog

  I have thought for months that the number of followers on my blog never seems to move so two days ago I wrote down the number (765) and today in my email there were 5 new people now following my blog….. except WordPress had not changed my number and instead of the 800 it remained at 765… What up with this. I am not a boastful person but I see new followers almost every other day so where are they as far as what WordPress is reporting?

  Of these followers had a so called @Outlook.com email address, these are spammers and are removed bv Staff. There are a few threads in this forum about this issue.

  Hi – We are working on a new wave of spam via .outlook.com email addresses. They are immediately deleted from the system. So, you get the email about them, but they don’t actually make it through to your follower count. They aren’t real.

  Thanks just checked and you are correct they all came from @outlook.com and had no links to anything that they published….thanks

  I know they are annoying but there isn’t any threat to your blog or account from them.
