People I don't know show up as "contributors" in my dashboard

    Hi. I hope you are doing well today. :-)

    People whom I don’t know keep showing up as contributors in the “User” section of my dashboard. Please tell me how this happens, and how I can stop these strangers from showing up as contributors.

    As the bot said, you should post questions in the WordPress.org forums.

    However, I did notice that you are using a plugin that allows users to post comments to your blog using their WordPress.com login (and presumably other services as well).

    This essentially creates an account on your site for those users who “contribute” comments to your blog.

    Thank you for your comment about my plugin that creates an account on my site for users who “contribute” comments to my blog. I have uninstalled Jetpack. I’ll see if that solves my problem. :-)
