People like posts without viewing them?
-
Hello everybody,
I am a bit confused here. I got 4 likes on my most recent post, but not a single view. My understanding is that when I select “Show Summary” in my reading settings, others have to actually visit my site to read the full post. I am not exactly interested in the number of people visiting my site, but find it interesting to see what parts of the world my viewers are from. I don´t use any other social media whatsoever, so I am wondering where people can read my posts if not in my blog.
Thank you!
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Sadly, comments are rare since like button became the new black. It’s quick and easy to click a like button but submitting a comment takes thought, time and effort.
Our stats are not real time stats and take time to update. There are frequent fluctuations that most do not notice because we aren’t watching the process. For details see here http://en.support.wordpress.com/stats/ and here https://en.support.wordpress.com/stats/#views-and-visitors and note the views and viewers take hours to update.
Our stats are page view stats. But please do not assume that everyone who clicks a follow, like, share, reblog or comment link actually reads the post on your blog because odds are they may not.
Follow, like, share, reblog or comment clicks are not page views. In fact, follows, likes, shares, comments and reblogs are completely misleading when you are talking about page view stats.
Your followers and anyone with a WordPress.com/Gravatar account who is logged into WordPress.com can “follow” your blog, “like”, “share” and “reblog” your posts and “comment” in several locations such as the Reader, without ever clicking into your blog and creating a single page view stat. Subscribers control how frequently they receive your posts (instantly, daily, weekly) and can comment without clicking into the blog.
Logged in visitors using a mobile can read the full post without creating a page view stat. https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/wordpresscom-reader-show-full-text?replies=31#post-1373606
You can control the length of the entry sent out on your RSS feed here Dashboard > Settings > Reading. Choose the “summary” setting for your RSS feed rather than to “full text”. That will compel followers who are not using mobiles to click into the blog to read the full post which will create a page view stat.

I am having a related but different problem and I hope you won’t mind if I post it here for help. I am logged in to wordpress.com, yet I find that often when I view a post and click the Like button on the page, it does not seem to count. My gravatar will show up and the count of likes will increase when it does, but not when it doesn’t. I have figured out how to pull up the posts I want to Like in my Reader and like them there, which does increase the count of likes, but this is extra steps. Why has the Like button stopped working for me? What do I need to do to make it work again? (Already tried turning off the popup blocker in Firefox and adding wp.com and wordpress.com to the exceptions list.)

@timgatewood
There is no wordpress.COM blog linked to your username and without it any support question you ask is dead in the water. It’s also not wise to add to an existing thread. Please use this link https://en.forums.wordpress.com/?new=1 to create a new thread and post the URL of the relevant wordpress.COM blog when you do. -
Okay. I don’t know why my wordpress.com blogs aren’t linked to my user name, as I accessed this thread while logged into my blog. In any case, I have 4 that are mine and I’m a writer on one other. My main one is Minister Is a Verb, which is at http://timgatewood.wordpress.com.
I did think my request for help was related to this topic, which is why I posted it here. As per your instructions, I will start a new topic instead. Thank you.
