People 'liking' my post and leaving comments
-
Dear Happy Engineers
I have had a few questions from some of my blog followers who aren’t wordpress members about how to like and leave a comment without being having to sign up with wordpress. I know that in other platforms such as blogger, you can leave a comment as anonymous, or if they have an OpenID. Is something similar possible at all with wordpress?
Your assistance in this will be much appreciated.
Kind regards

Hi Maria! Anyone can comment on a post by using the Guest tab of the comment form. This just asks for a name and email address but doesn’t sign them up for any WordPress.com-related things.
They can also log in to comment through Facebook and Twitter for comments. We don’t support OpenID logins on WordPress.com comments though.

Hi Andrew
Thanks for the reply. What about people wanting to ‘like’ my post (i.e. click the like button?). A friend of mine tried to do this but it kept bringing him back to the sign up page…???

You’ll need to have a WordPress.com account to Like posts, which is why it’s asking them to login, but anyone can comment.
