People spamming a blog

  I post to mainly one blog and there is a person that post video, (most likely a copy right violation) to the blog over and over again. Each time it is a new video but the comments are turned off and the videos are just from the news media. It bumps the post where people are commenting on to the back pages real fast. On any given day this person may have seven or more post and I have seen other blogs where it has filled the page. If they were on a forum, they would be kicked off. What can be done????

  You’re talking about that they leave comments with links that you don’t want or whatever? Just delete them and then mark the IP, URL, whatever info u can obtain in the blacklist:

  No, these are other peoples post not comments. Their post just fill up the entire page. Here is an example: http://wordpress.com/tag/casey-anthony/

  That’s a tag, not a blog. Are ya saying that someone posts a lot using one tag in specific? Not understanding….

  I guess that’s how it works, not sure. But if you are just copying a video from the news and posting the video, not the link, isn’t that basically a copy right violation or does anyone even care???

  it’s always best to provide a source link so
  you don’t get it for copy right violation,

  Do note it doesn’t stop them from going after
  you for a “Copy Right violation” it just shows
  respect to the original author of the content.

  Well if you go to the source and read you will most likely see the copy right notice. In the music industry they are real hard nosed about it. Youtube has knocked some of my stuff off because they said I violated some one’s CR.

  I just always assumed that one would simply click on youtube and it would take them right to whomever uploaded the video. I don’t even know the original source. Just thought it was funny and added it. Besides, every time someone views it, it credits as a hit to whomever actually did upload it.

  Hi, I’m new to blogging – I have a small but successful blog, but I now have a guy who posts random comments on a regular basis – I regard it as spam.

  Can I block this poster or get him banned from posting on WP?
