People unable to reach my site
-
I’ve had 2 people report that when they go to my site, they get ads for Walmart and then some porn and they can’t get to my site. Has there been a hack to my site? What can I do?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I can see your site just fine, using both chrome and edge. There is an ad at the top of your page for a GYN product, but no porn or walmart. Sounds like those people have malware or a virus on their computer.
-
Thank you for getting back to me. There was another person who reported the problem, too. I’ll assume that it’s their problem and that my site can’t be hacked. Is that true that WordPress never gets malware? Anyway, I’ll try not to freak out! Thanks again.

You’re best bet is if this happens again is to have those people screen capture what they are seeing and then let a mod here have access to those pictures.

You should be able to link it using the appropriate code (the last one listed below with the “src” in it).

I now have 4 people who’ve said they can’t get to my post. This is the post: https://rainforestmind.wordpress.com/2016/11/01/too-sensitive-too-dramatic-too-intense-what-is-emotional-intelligence/?fbclid=IwAR14e-uOIFifPu1CfWrpdq8bnouOdwyoThiOkTZrkK7kuEU0b5_eyyOtW6M
Taken from a Facebook page on Parenting Gifted Children. Or this is it on my site: https://rainforestmind.wordpress.com/2016/11/01/too-sensitive-too-dramatic-too-intense-what-is-emotional-intelligence/Bookstooge, I don’t know what you mean by linking to the appropriate code.

Here’s someone else (with staff suggestions) on what to do:

I’m wondering how to alert a staff member. Do they monitor forums and will just find this or is there a way to contact one directly?

They say they get a Walmart or Amazon ad and then one person got some porn and couldn’t get out of it. One said she was on a phone. Don’t know where the others were from. Can you help with this? Thank you.

@pprober sorry about this! We don’t allow those kinds of ads, but when they come through they can be tricky to catch.
If any of them can see a link for “report this ad” that would be the very best option, as that will send us all of the information we need.
Otherwise if they could get a screenshot of the ad, as well as a screenshot from https://supportdetails.com , and if you can upload those via wordpress.com/media, that would be really helpful.
The exact time they saw the ad, the link it was on, and the link it redirected to are all helpful as well.

I just uploaded the screenshot to my media library. Can you access it there? Or do I need to send it to you somehow? The timing was within the past 5 hours. You can see the Facebook link above where it was originally posted.
-
Thank you, I’ll get that. Noting here we’ve tried from android and iPhone and can’t duplicate this.
-
Can you also get that person to get a screenshot from supportdetails.com so we know their IP, device, etc?
-
Also, they can likely get the exact time from the image… if they’ll include that that would be helpful too :)
