Performancing metrics don’t seem to be working

How do I check if my performancing metrics is activated in my blog? My blog rank hasn’t climbed up in terms of ranking and I’ve been a member of performancing for over a month. And also how can I drive traffic to my blog? I’m not sure if I’m doing the right thing. Help!

There’s a lot of advice in the forum about how to increase hits. Try the NYTimes vs Robert Scoble thread to understand a bit about the whole debate, or just jump right in and use the forum search box for “Stats” “Hits” or “Traffic”. You’ll find a ton of things, including Dr. Mike’s Pimp My Blog post. I’d find them for you but I’m too lazy; it’s all there in the search box, though.

As for performancing metrics, I’m not sure what you mean. The regular WordPress stats? Some offsite stat counter? Could you clarify?

Don´t know if I´m giving you the right answer, but a look in your sitemeter tells that you have had Total 331 visitors and Average Per Day 8 .
Check that against what hits you can see in you bloggstatic in WP.
I don´t think your blogrank will climb in ranking with so few visitors. Think about how many bloggers there are.

To get traffic, at least you have to visit and comment others so they know that you exist.
Trackback other who write in same topic and make permalink is other things you can do

    @kidswereus
Keywords, quality content and frequent blog updating – The bottom line for getting good search engine results is to have lots of keyword rich content on lots of pages. Content must be updated often; this is a Google patent and concerns the changes to page content over time. Google sees newer content as better content especially if the site ‘theme’ is news, retail or auction.

Blog promotion close to home – Never underestimate the value of using low-cost, offline marketing techniques to encourage people to visit your blog site. Ensure your website address is clearly listed on all of your marketing materials – that is, your business card, brochure, published articles, print advertisements, sandwich boards, your vehicle, etc.

Blog promotion in cyber space – It is said that Google’s directory comes straight from the DMOZ Directory so look into getting your blog site listed in it. The DMOZ is commonly known as the Open Directory Project and it has strict guidelines as to who is listed. Submission info can be found here.

You should *not* submit your site to Google, Yahoo, and MSN more than once every 30 days. MSN will seldom visit a website unless invited by submission. Yahoo frequents more than MSN but less than Google but will dramatically increase visits after submission. Although Google says that manually submitting your pages to their index is unnecessary, they have an interface for you to do so. But don’t be surprised if it takes months for Google to acknowledge your site’s existence.

If your site has been accepted into the Open Directory, it may take anywhere from 2 weeks to several months for your site to be listed on partner sites which use the Open Directory data, such as AOL Search, Google, Netscape Search, Yahoo Search, and hundreds of other sites. We make updates of the data available weekly, but each partner has their own update schedule.

You’ve only been here for a month and we’ve had this conversation before so I know you know how to use the forum search box to find more tips, and I know you have probably already done so. :) This is drmike’s site for blog promotion tips http://pimpmyblog.wordpress.com The next thread also contains some useful advice http://wordpress.com/forums/topic.php?id=6411&replies=3#post-41380

IMO these questions below are for the performancing forum and not the wordpress.com forum.

How do I check if my performancing metrics is activated in my blog? My blog rank hasn’t climbed up in terms of ranking and I’ve been a member of performancing for over a month.

Actually you should not submit your site to search engines if you’re already listed. That could lead you to be banned since they may think you’re trying SEO tricks and/ or abusing their system.

Easiest way to tell if your site is being spidered is take a look at the cache for your main page of your blog. If it’s fairly current, that means you;ve been spidered recently. (It’s the first page the spiders are going to hit since it’s probably the most linked to page on your blog unless you have a site like my old blog here where the FAQ on image uploading was the most linked to.)

hi guys thanks for helping me. incidentally, my instructor for this class says that performancing’s system is going to be down for a while so he’s making our whole class switch to google analytics. however…google analytics is javascript-rich; hence, not applicable to WP. oh well.

Google analytics are already in use on our blogs here. They are used by wordpress admin and two accounts cannot be used on the same blog. If you use the forum search box you will find drmike’s explanation on this there.
