'Perle' theme problems

  Hello,
  I’ve purchased the theme Perle and I’m having a few problems:
  The theme states – ‘Perle lets you showcase your three latest Portfolio items directly on the front page. Simply create your post and they’ll display on your Blog page.’
  This is not working for me. Does this mean:
  1// your home page needs to be a ‘blog’ page and not a static page?
  2// do your portfolio pages need to be posts rather than portfolio pages?
  I can’t seem to get my portfolio pages to come up on my static home page.
  Also ‘Perle’ states that images at 780 pix or over will ‘overhang’ the text column width – this is also not happening.
