How do I change the Permalink: http://ppitsblog.wordpress.com/www-pawprintsinthesand-org/ — to just http://www.pawprintsinthesand.org?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

http://ppitsblog.org/www-pawprintsinthesand-org/ is a static Page.
http://www.pawprintsinthesand.org/ is an independent website.
If you want to use http://www.pawprintsinthesand.org/ with your WP.com blog, you will have to buy the Domain Mapping upgrade and change your nameservers to point to WordPress. http://en.support.wordpress.com/add-a-domain/
-
What I want is for people to be able to click on the link ( http://www.pawprintsinthesand.org)- that is on our blog (in the bar on the header image on the PROFILE theme) and go to our web site. It’s stupid that you can’t have your own URL that people can simply click and be sent to an organization’s web site.

As you have registered a .wordpress.com blog you log in as Admin under the exact same username account that registered the blog and purchase an annually renewable domain mapping upgrade for the blog.
See here for mapping an existing domain that you already own http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/
Dashboard > Store > My Upgrades is where you do the primary blog set up knowing it can take between 24 – 72 hours for domain name propagation to take place throughout the internet. You can view the DNS changes here > http://www.whatsmydns.net/ What’s important during that stage is to be patient.
NOTE: WordPress.com does not provide an email service for domains. See here for adding email http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/add-email/

I want people to be able to click on the URL posted on my blog and be directed to my web site from my blog. Why does it have to be so difficult??
-
I mean, even in stupid MS Word, you can attach a link to even given URL and be able to click on that URL and be directed to a web site. You’d think WP would be as seamless.
-
It is only difficult because your expectation of being able to change permalinks like you are changing socks is not possible.
-
Microsoft WORD is a processing program that’s not even web compliant and it is not relevant in this situation.
-
I’m using the Profile theme. There is a bar (or whatever) on the header where you can put whatever you want: About, Contact us, etc…. I want to put http://www.pawprintsinthesand.org there. I want people to be able to click on that and be taken to http://www.pawprintsinthesand.org. You’re telling me this isn’t possible?
