  my permalink is broken, everything I find tells me to go to ‘settings-permalinks’ but that options isn’t in the settings menu

  The permalink setting is a feature of self-hosted WordPress (also called “.org”) sites, but is not necessary to modify here on WordPress.com. If you are at all wondering about the difference between WordPress.com and WordPress.org, you can learn more here:
