  Why do my permalinks randomly add a ‘2’ to the link? I havent deleted any posts or anything so I’m wondering if anyone could help me figure out whats causing this? I find that this happens when I create a draft first and then publish at a later date…. Thanks!!

  Hi there,

  This usually means the URL slug already exists in the database.

  For example, if you publish a post, with the title, About Me, the URL will be created as, domain.com/2022/01/21/about-me. If you then later create a page titled About Me, the URL will be created as domain.com/about-me-2.

  This goes for any other type of content on your site as well – if a particular slug exists in the database, any new type of content that tries to create the same slug will have a number appended to it.

  That said, your site isn’t hosted with us, just connected here via Jetpack. You’re using the open source WordPress software, which is what controls how this works.
