Permalink box above post too big, how do I change it?

Hello anyone who can help.
The permalink box that is above the new post on the front page of my blog is too big. It it just empty space on the screen and I would like to either remove it, or make it smaller or turn it into a smallish image.
Can I do this? If so, how?

That is for the post’s featured image. If you don’t have a featured image set, then the showcase main page has that blank grey area where the image would be. Take a look at the demo site: http://oxygendemo.wordpress.com/ .
