Permalink Default Page Error
-
I’m currently trying to get my permalink default page working. Currently when I do http://www.website.com/home and http://www.website.com/about is working. In the backend I set the Reading Setting > Static Page to Home.
When I go back to http://www.website.com it doesn’t work and give me a 404 – File or directory not found.
Thank you in advance for your time and assistance. Much appreciated.

This is the site linked to your name:
http://timothyky.wordpress.com/
It shows the example post provided by wp on all new blogs.
http://timothyky.wordpress.com/home/
shows: “Apologies, but the page you requested could not be found. Perhaps searching will help.”Are you asking about a different blog?
Did you follow the instructions in the support document about making a static page?

Hi Tess,
Oh the domain is under my server right now. I just made an example http://www.website.com. Yes I followed the instructions and the mod rewrite works. I am able to go to my website http://www.website.com/home and http://www.website.com/about I just didn’t post the full url link since it’s a website I’m helping my friend make.
However when I go to the root http://www.website.com it shows a 404 – File and Directory Not Found Error. I followed the steps to pages/front-page setting the Reading Settings Static Page but still doesn’t work.

If the domain is on your own server then you should go over to WordPress.ORG the keepers of the software you are using. this forum is to help sites that are hosted on WordPress.COM.
