Permalinks

I created a new portfolio post, however, it does not show the Permalink like my other portfolio posts do when I go in to edit it. What have I missed?

Hi there,
I don’t see any sites in the account you used to post here. Can you tell us the URL of the site you’re working on?
Once we know that, we should be able to help with this or at least direct you to the folks who can.

Hi, I was too scared to attach the site as I didn’t develop the site (we paid a contractor to do that), I can only go in and do edits. I discovered it was an issue with the Portfolio Categories. I created a new category called Short Courses, which didn’t give me a permalink for the short course I wanted to put in that category. If I selected a different category, it then gave me a permalink so perhaps I missed something when creating the new category? I have now nested Short Courses under another category that was already there which seems to have fixed it but isn’t ideal.

It sounds like you’re using the open source version of WordPress.
To clarify, the forums you’re posting to now is for the hosting provider, WordPress.com. We only have control over sites that are hosted on our servers.
We’re not the same thing as the open source WordPress software. That software is made on WordPress.org, and anyone can download that software and install it on their own server, to create a website. Most developers who create WordPress sites for other people use that version of WordPress.
Portfolios aren’t a built-in feature of WordPress, but are added to a site via a plugin, so in this case I think your best bet is to contact support for whichever portfolio plugin you’re using on the site. In the dashboard, go to Plugins ->Installed Plugins, and check through the list for one that mentions portfolios. Click the More Details link for that plugin, and there should be a link to the plugin developer’s website, or the plugin forum on WordPress.org, for that plugin. Then you can ask there for more help.
