Permanently delete a file from my library
-
I have deleted a file from my library because it contains my home address and phone number and it comes up on the front page of googe when you type in my name. However, despite having pressed ‘Delete Permanently’ you can still view the file. How can I really delete the file? There doesn’t seem to be any link to Trash on my library admin page.
Thanks

You need to use the URL removal tool in your Google Webmasters account.
Remove a page or site from Google’s search results > http://support.google.com/webmasters/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=164734 -
Thanks timethief but looking at the Google webmaster tool it says that this only works if the content has been removed from, in this case, wordpress.com. It hasn’t. The page is still accessible if you type the URL in without going through Google and even if you refresh it afterwards. The only explanation I can think of is that it is in my Trash but I can’t find any links to my Trash folder.

There are separate folders for Trash and you need to locate the Media one. See here > http://en.support.wordpress.com/trash/#accessing-your-trash

I see a cv in Google preview with what looks like an address etc – but when I click on the link for the pdf file I get a 404 page not found message – is that the file you are asking about?

From Google with Quick View has a version that looks like it is cached in “docs.google.com” – that is a Google issue since trying to look at the PDF on your blog shows deleted

~~TT
Sort of an Easter Egg hunt here – but this should help them a bit – not sure how they go about getting the cached copy of their document to go away – then there is the issue that Google is only one of many many search engines so the document could live on for a long time on a server somewhere

Silly me. I had the page cached in my browser!
Anyway, I have requested that Google remove the URL. I understand that it may take some time for the page to disappear from other search engines.
Thanks
