  Accounts here cannot be deleted. Only blogs can be, from the dashboard Tools page.

  This is confusing. With no number to contact anyone, it’s ridiculous. This is a huge factor is wanting to remove my account. I’m paying $99 and I need to know how to prevent money being taken from my account in the future and because I only made my account a few days ago, a refund on that money I just lost.

  well it is true that you cannot delete your account, but you can delete your blog. to delete your blog, just go to the tools in your dashboard and click delete site. Then follow the steps and you are done.

  Please go to your WP Admin > Store > My Upgrades page; there is usually a 30 day period in which upgrades can be refunded and there should be a link to contact support on that page where you can ask for a refund. Also if the particular upgrade you have purchased can be cancelled there will be a cancel button on that page. That will prevent any renewal charges occurring. You can leave your then free WordPress.com account inactive if you wish, or continue to experiment with the things a free WordPress.com site can do.

  i wonder if wordpress is aware of it’s off-putting degree of complicated-ness? I also want to delete my account (but am worried I will lose my .net domain name … that I have already paid for) … I would love to use this site to write but it just seems like it’s all about appearances … and I am too busy for that crap

  @hugslinger You can transfer your domain name if you want to: https://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/transfer-domain-registration/

  I’m not really sure what you mean by it all being about Appearances. I think it is as much about that as you make it. However, if you want people to read what you write a certain amount of it will need to be about appearances: people don’t want to read something that is hard to read.
