Permission denial for own category editing
-
hello! Hope you can help – I wanted to edit my own categories (to change some names and add/change descriptions) but I am getting a big message error message ‘You need a higher level of permission’ to do it. I am the only person editing and maintaining my blog… how have I not got full editor rights to it? Hope you can help. My website is inksugarspice.wordpress.com Cheers, Lynn
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there,
How exactly are you trying to edit them? From https://inksugarspice.wordpress.com/wp-admin/edit-tags.php?taxonomy=category or from https://wordpress.com/settings/taxonomies/category/inksugarspice.wordpress.com?

Hi, thanks.
The only way I thought was possible: posts > categories > then edit (I can’t find an alternative option.
The message screen I get says:
You need a higher level of permission

sorry, you are not allowed to edit this itemI wondered if it’s a bug that you can’t re-edit a category description, only add one at the time of category creation??

Hi – an update… I’ve tried both ways that you’ve mentioned again: Editing ANY category descriptions through the wp-admin gets me the error message. Editing any categories that did not already have a description in the settings will save the new description (ones with descriptions already there are no error messages but it hasn’t saved), so thanks.
I’ve no idea if this will work, but I also have the desktop app (I don’t tend to use it as it’s glitchy), I’ll try via that and report back…

Hi, facing the same issue from my dashboard > categories (on desktop). Am able to add descriptions to new categories but get the error message when I try to edit existing ones.
Thanks, Madhu
