Permissions Problem Disconnecting Jetpack from Dead Site
-
Hi, I have an old website that was connected to my wordpress.com account for Jetpack. when logged in to my account, there’s a notice saying “This site cannot be accessed. Disconnect Site” But when I try to do that it says I don’t have permission. I can’t disconnect at the other end because it’s no longer there.
How can I overcome this?
thanks
Andy
Wordpress username: directsponsor,
dead site: http://directsponsor.org/ – well, not dead but the wordpress install is gone. -
Does this help? https://en.support.wordpress.com/disconnect-jetpack-sites/
Note that Jetpack is a plugin used by WordPress.ORG bloggers to achieve parity with what we already have built in to WordPress.COM blogs.
re: Jetpack support
Some Jetpack solutions are here http://jetpack.me/support/
Others are in the Jetpack support forum at WordPress.org
http://wordpress.org/support/plugin/jetpack
However, if you can’t find help at either one then you can file a Jetpack support ticket here > http://en.support.wordpress.com/contact/?jetpack=needs-service -
Hi Timethief, thanks for replying. Yes I’d seen the support page and followed the instructions there, but when I clicked to “continue” it returned an error saying I don’t have permission.
I just looked at my account again now and it says I have no sites, so I guess it must have deleted it eventually anyway.
All the best

Hi @directsponsor –
So I’m understanding, you had a WordPress install at directsponsor.org which had a JetPack connection, but you no longer have that site, but you’re getting a message in your WordPress.com saying that the site needs to be disconnected?
Is that the gist of it?

Hi Bruce, yes that’s what was happening, but it seems to have cleared on it’s own. Well, at least, the connection has been disconnected despite the warning notice about not having permission to perform the action.
It’s all fine now, I was able to register directsponsor.wordpress.com (the old connection to the wp on the external site was preventing that) and transferred all my blog from another wp.com site. I was happy to see that even all the attachments came over, I was expecting to have to do that manually.
Thanks
