Personal Domain
-
I have purchased a domain I would like to use for wordpress and just paid for it. If I transfer it to wordpress, I would have to take a paid plan. It sounds as if I would pay twice. Is this correct?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there, paying for a domain name basically just made you the owner of the name.
You would still need the domain name to connect to a website.
If you would like to use your site “hundeanekdoten.home.blog” to be linked with the domain you just bought, you would have to upgrade your WordPress.com account to a paid plan, and map the domain or transfer the domain to WordPress.com
If however you want to use the self-hosted version of WordPress you would still need to pay hosting at a hosting provider like BlueHost or GoDaddy or any other good hosting provider. The hosting provider can then help you setup the
Open Source version WordPress.Hope this clarifies some things for you.

Thanks for your answer. I know the procedure. I buy the domain and pay annually, wich makes me the owner of the domain. I pay when purchase and if I decide to move the domain after just purchasing it, I was assuming I will pay twice when taking a paid plan with wordpress. The domain needs to be paid every year not matter where I use it. There are tons of providers, I have been with a few and now trying to find another one. Whether that will be wordpress, I have not decided. I am still calculating.

Hope you find a happy home for the domain name, luckily you wont have to pay for the domain again when moving either to WordPress.com or anywhere else.
