personal email

  hi, why is my personal email associated with my my ‘reverse dental’ blog? If I search my email on Google it comes up with this blog, and I do not want it associate in any way. Could you please search the script/code for my blog to check there are no instances of my personal email in there. Alternately, could you suggest why Google is indexing the blog? Is it some background link between my Google account and WordPress?? many thanks, Michael.

  Hi Michael,

  Are you speaking of https://reversedental.wordpress.com/?

  That blog is being indexed by Google because you have it set to public, and it’s being associated with your email address because your email address appears in the Contact Info widget in the sidebar, visible on the front page.

  To remove that email address, go to My Site ->Design ->Customize ->Widgets ->Sidebar, and edit the Contact Info widget appearing there.

  If you don’t want the site to be indexed by search engines, you can set it to hidden or private at My Site ->Manage ->Settings:

  https://en.support.wordpress.com/settings/privacy-settings/

  Keep in mind that after making these changes it will still take several weeks before this information will disappear from Google.

  We never reveal the email address associated with any WordPress.com site or account to any third parties, including search engines, under any circumstances. The only way a search engine can associate a specific email with a specific site, is if the site owner publicly published the email address on that site, as you did here.

  Hi, thanks for your reply.

  No, I’m talking about a separate email address which I use daily (email visible only to moderators and staff) (sorry trying to disguise it!). If you type this into Google you will see what I mean. The (email visible only to moderators and staff) address is solely for this site.

  I have any emails to this address automatically forward to my [redacted] address. Could this be how a Google search links the two?

  Hi there,

  Your personal email address is on another site (onlineteacher.co.nz) and it seems that Google managed to make a link between that site and your blog.

  So you need to remove your email address from that site if you want to break that corealation.
